new york A/W 10 fashion week

so... kids, what do we think, I always reckon NY fashion week is a proper bore personally. I look forward to Rodarte and Jeremy Scott. I loved the second part of Rodarte more then the opening, with the whites on whites on whites, and the amazing shoe/sock combo...

Jeremy Scotts show was dedicated to Fash-wan and I found loads of it very wearable, maybe thats why I was a bit disappointed, as I look forward to his banana themes past collections based on fast food and vinyl records rank as some of my all time favourites. Some of it was very 90's versace/neneh cherry, very east london, so very 'done', nothing too original here, But like I said, if I had the dolla I would rush out and buy a LOT of this collection, in particular, the crystal studded biker jacket and bustier pictured below. I also liked the target practice tops.

R.I.P Alexander McQueen

so sad to hear the news, McQueen was a genius and along with John Galliano, one of my all time favorite designers, I have always earmarked this Lady Haversham dress from 2006 in my memory, its not one of his most remembered seasons or his most spectacular by a long stretch, but it was my favorite. R.I.P Lee McQueen. S.x

aurel schmidt makes me jealous

yeah, so hi, i'm aurel schmidt, I have the best glasses ever and i'm totally cool, oh yeah and i'm like, a TOTALLY BRILLIANT ARTIST.

Schmidt is the most interesting artist/illustrator i've seen in ages, I love her grotty hand-drawn paintings so much I would sell my new puppy to own one, they are so beautifully intricate and soft on the eye, then up close you realise they are pastel coloured treats of condoms, tampons and flys, even her fag - end necklace makes me insanely jealous. Although the subject matter and aesthetic style is always more important in art and design I think its really refreshing to see some-one who actually has real technical ability succeed in the fickle, fickle art world, especially as I hate to use computers at all in my own work, so yeah, insanely jealous, but also very inspired.

what i'd wear to the oscars...

i've spent far to much time on this today, had a job canceled so have completely wasted all morning wondering what i'd pick to wear to the oscars. WTF! I should be looking for work but instead i'm trawling through couture archives on style.com

John Galliano is my absolute fave, and his S/S 10 show last week was a good un' i'd pick this charcoal dress and add the top hat from other looks earlier on in the show, very english, very aristocratic. but I'd beg him to let me borrow this dress from couture 08...

and team it with Princess Julia nails, I think. This is basically a 50's style bodice with a sheer black netting dress over the top, its proper well good. I think its a real shame no-one does a cher anymore, for fear of a worldwide slagging off on blogs - BORING! expect to see lots of chanel blah blah like this...

if I wanted to go completely over the top, i'd pick anything from Victor and Rolfs S/S 10 collection but in particular this yellow frill explosion,

girl crush - Alex Box

I'm a fur addict, so its not really surprising that i'm currently a little obsessed with make-up artist Alex Box the woman has cruella de ville hair people! how brilliant is that. she's like a more rock 'n' roll Daphne Guinness, but its not just her personal style that makes me feel a little sick with envy, she's only a bloody creative genius too. When I go on the Illamasqua website, she makes me want to become a belin seductress with blue lashes, the thing I like most about her faces is the skin, which she uses as a pallet, and quite rightly, as another feature to accentuate with loads and loads of slap, even when she hasn't painted the skin, she favours a really luminescent base. I'm doing a collaboration with photographer Amelia Karlsen soon, and Box's imagry is really inspiring.
